History
Eddie had the good fortune of being a gopher in his Aunt Marla's film company. He met the Blue Devil on a film set, and became quite a fan of the hero, dreaming about one day becoming Devil’s sidekick.
Edward sneaked into Blue Devil's workshop at night and, using his prodigious knowledge of electronics, created a battlesuit incorporating the designs of the Blue Devil suit. Even though Blue Devil didn't want a sidekick, Eddie was determined to make a go at being a hero. As Kid Devil he assisted his hero in foiling an airplane hijacking, and later helped defeat one of his enemies, the Vanquisher. After these adventures, his parents left Eddie's education and supervision to professors at the Institute of Hypernormal Conflict Studies.
After Blue Devil's deal with the demon Neron resulted in Eddie's Aunt Marla dying in a helicopter crash, Eddie attempted to live up to her name and succeed in the movie business. His attempts failed, however, and Eddie continued to have adventures as Kid Devil, even helping Young Justice's assault on Zandia (Young Justice #49-50).
Since the events in Infinite Crisis, Eddie is a member of the Teen Titans, and is no longer in need of a super suit for his powers (see below). He has forged a bond with Rose Wilson, another new team member, as both feel that they're the third string Titans. Eddie claimed for many months that he was still in close contact with Blue Devil, supposedly calling him multiple times a day to assure him that he's fine. On a recent mission with the Titans, Eddie was disemboweled by Plasmus and the EMTs were unable to help him. The new Doom Patrol arrived, and took Kid Devil to their HQ for treatment.
Although The Chief manages to heal Eddie, Robin suspects that the Chief is manipulating him to join the Doom Patrol, as he appears to have done to Beast Boy, Bumblebee and Vox (Mal Duncan, formerly known as Herald). Robin also discovers that Eddie has not been in communication with Blue Devil as he has been claiming, but was only pretending to talk to him so he would seem important and could fit in with the other team members. In truth, Eddie and Blue Devil have not spoken in over two years. After the mission against the Brotherhood was resolved the Chief attempted to convince Eddie that he was unwanted by the Titans. However, Steve Dayton, the Doom Patrol and the Titans arrived to make it clear that was lie. Feeling touched by how firmly the Titans stood up for him, Eddie finally feels accepted as a member. He also tried rekindling his bond with Blue Devil, however when they were supposed to meet atop of Titans Tower, Blue Devil never showed up.
According to Geoff Johns, Kid Devil gained an archnemesis at some point, a fact he brags about to the other Titans. This mysterious nemesis has joined Titans East.
