History
Stryfe, the Chaos-Bringer, is an abomination. Stryfe was created to save the world from Apocalypse. Once believed to be the true son of the X-Men's, Cyclops and Phoenix, it has been revealed that he the perfect clone of Nathan Summers, aka Cable.

In 2000 years, a very old Rachel Summers, a.k.a. Mother Askani, led her people to revolution against the long time tyrant Apocalypse. Rachel needed a powerful warrior to confront him, so she sent a member of the cult to her past, where Apocalypse had infected her baby brother Nathan Christopher Summers with a techno-organic virus that would kill him. The Askani talked Cyclops into letting her take the baby to the future where he could be healed. Cable was near death when Racheal Summers decided to clone her "brother" so that if Nathan himself died, the Askani could raise his clone to be their savior. The clone's growth was greatly accelerated until he was the same age as Nathan himself. The Askani succeeded in halting the spread of the techno-organic virus in Nathan's body, thereby saving his life.

However, Apocalypse and his forces then invaded the Askani's hiding place. Apocalypse found the infant clone and decided to raise him himself. Stryfe grew up to become one of the strong, the victorious, the ruthless among all the week. Stryfe never actually had a real name to go by, he was groomed to become the next host for Apocalypse's organic soul. The teachings of Apocalypse made Stryfe hard, cruel and careless towards anything. He was made leader of the Cannanites, the military loyal to Apocalypse's rule. Stryfe was watched over by Apocalypse's aide Ch'vayre, who regarded the boy's malevolence with mixed feelings.

He led the rule of his "father" to unconquered lands, and was faithful to destroying the Askani clan, a large group of Rebels who was led by Stryfe's original host, Cable. During this time when Stryfe and Cable both were becoming older, Stryfe killed Cables wife Jenskot, and kidnapped his son Tyler.

At this point in Apocalypse's millennia-long existence, he had to transfer his consciousness and life forces from one body to another to maintain his life. When his current body grew too old and feeble, Apocalypse intended to take over the powerful young body of Stryfe.

Apocalypse's plans were thwarted, however, when he was killed by the adolescent Nathan Summers, who became known as Nathan Dayspring Askani'son, and later as Cable. Stryfe went into hiding with Ch'vayre and eventually became the military leader of the new dictatorship that arose in Apocalypse's place, the New Canaanites.

Cable, meanwhile, became the foremost military leader of the New Canaanites' opposition, the Clan Chosen. During the war between these opposing forces, Cable and Stryfe clashed repeatedly, becoming bitter enemies, even though neither was aware of the true relationship between them.

Eventually Cable went back in time to the Twentieth Century, hoping to change the course of history by stopping Apocalypse back then. Stryfe chose to return to the past to eradicate the Cables parents, before Cable can be born. It has been an ongoing fight over the centuries and in our time-line, Stryfe, commanded the Mutant Liberation Front.

Inevitably, Cable and Stryfe came into conflict yet again, first when Cable headed the mercenary team called the Six Pack, and later after Cable had taken over the New Mutants, whom he reorganized into X-Force.

At one point Stryfe ordered the massacre of the Native Americans of the Camp Verde Reservation, the original home of X-Force member Warpath, in order to cover up secret, illegal genetic experimentation being conducted in its vicinity.

Posing as Cable himself, Stryfe publicly made an assassination attempt on Professor Charles Xavier, founder of the X-Men, and nearly succeeded in killing him. Stryfe defeated Apocalypse and seized control of his team of superhuman warriors, the Dark Riders. Believing himself to be the real Nathan Summers, Stryfe captured Cyclops and Phoenix, blaming them for abandoning him as an infant.

As a means of spreading further destruction, Stryfe also introduced the Legacy Virus, a disease genetically engineered to be lethal to mutants, into present day Earth. The Legacy Virus has since infected a large number of mutants and killed many of them.

The final battle between Cable and Stryfe took place in the moon. Both fell through a vortex and Cable activated a self destruct device. Cable emerged from the vortex. Apparently, Stryfe has been killed and his body destroyed. However, he had moved his consciousness into Cable's mind and now controlled him. Fortunately, Cable managed to regain conrtol of his body and expelled Stryfe's consciousness. He was doomed to live in the demon's Blackheart's dimension, but, after Warpath had his heart stopped by Edwin Martynec, he kidnapped the man's essence. Blackheart had promised him that he could return to Warpath's body should he defeat his essence. However, Warpath won and Stryfe remains a prisoneer in the netherworld.

As long as his soul lives, he's still a threat. Apocalypse taught him too well to give up any hope of just fading away.
